The Miao combined intricate stitching patterns to represent animals and plants from their natural environment. In this belly band, unfolded leaves are stitched as embroidered butterfly wings, and a human face is stitched on its body. Animal bodies are woven as flowers, and even the organs of the animals are stitched.
