（简）蜡染衣低调大方，连绵不断的蜡染纹样随性简朴，细看则察其做工精巧。蜡染图案蓝白分间，分布平均，一丝不苟。此背带运用了蜡染的制作技艺。蜡染即蜡画和染色，是延续千年的民间传统工艺。用蜡液在自织的白布上精心绘上图案，然后在蓝靛缸里浸染几次后捞出，放在锅里用开水煮去蜡质，再用水清洗浮色，即呈现出各种白色图案。蜡染的工艺十分费工费时，精致图案凸显制作者十分用心，把代代相传的传统工艺发扬光大。
(ENG) Batik clothing: this cloth is decorated with a randomized, simple and continuous batik pattern that is graceful and subtle. Closer inspection reveals the intricate craftsmanship that has gone into making this clothing. Batik patterns are meticulously and evenly distributed with blue separating from white. Batik involves wax drawing and dyeing and is a traditional art that has been used by the Miao people for thousands of years. Creating a batik piece of clothing is time consuming, labour intensive and takes great skill. Firstly, wax is used to draw intricate patterns on self-weaved white cloth. The cloth is then immersed several times into a barrel of indigo blue dye and taken out, boiled to remove excess wax, and washed with water to reveal diverse white patterns. The art of batik has been passed down through many generations.

（简）背带上不同大小的矩形对称排列，构图工整，方形图案里面填满了漩涡纹，手工细致精巧。背带运用了蜡染的制作技艺。蜡染即蜡画和染色，工艺十分费工费时，精致图案凸显制作者十分用心，把代代相传的传统工艺发扬光大。漩涡纹是出现较早的中国传统纹样之一，被认为是中国传统纹样审美思想和造型意识的起源。背带是少数民族背小孩的工具，常用蜡染，织锦，刺绣工艺来制作，表达着母亲对孩子深深的爱和美好祝愿。
(ENG) Baby carrying belt: batik with spiral filled square patterns. Batik is very labour intensive and time consuming to make. Batik is a traditional craft and refers to the process of beeswax drawing and dyeing. The exquisite patterns highlight the creator’s considerable skills and dedication to passing down these techniques from generation to generation. Regarded as one of the oldest design aesthetics, the spiral pattern is an ancient traditional Chinese pattern. Baby carrying belts are used by ethnic minorities to swaddle their babies. They are usually produced with artisan techniques such as batik, brocade and embroidery, and are beautiful displays of a mother’s deep love and future hopes for her child.

（简）蜡染花片朴素简约，以交叠的圆形为主轴，在部分重叠处绘上似鱼的外观，造型别致。此花片运用了蜡染的制作技巧，並使用回收蜡制作。回收蜡即反复使用的蜡，因被植物染色故呈现深蓝色。蜡染即蜡画和染色，是延续千年的民间传统工艺。苗族的蜡染技艺高超，融入几何艺术之元素。风格独特。
(ENG) Batik fabric: a unique and distinctive piece, with overlapping circles and some areas decorated with fish-like illustrations. The fabric is produced with recycled wax. Recycled wax is wax that has been repeatedly used and is dark blue due to plant dye. Batik is a traditional craft with a history of over one thousand years. It is a technique that involves beeswax and dyeing. Miao women use melted beeswax to draw patterns on self woven white cloth. The cloth is then soaked into a barrel of indigo dye several times before it is taken out, then boiled in a pot to remove the wax and rinsed in water to remove the excess dye. Different white patterns are revealed when the wax is rinsed off.

（简）袖片的蜡染部分为深蓝色和淡红色，袖口颜色则不同缤纷夺目，用了红，黄，绿等色。此袖片运用了彩染的制作技巧，衣袖部分是蜡染装饰片。彩染，顾名思义彩色蜡染，制作时使用了除蓝外的其他植物染料多次封蜡染色。蜡染图纹十分紧密，制作耗时，手工精细。
(ENG) Qianxi batik sleeves: dark blue and pale red batik. The cuffs are vibrantly coloured in red, green, yellow and other colours. Coloured batik technique is used. Coloured batik, as the name suggests, is different from regular batik as it uses various botanical colourings other than indigo blue. The tightly arranged batik patterns are time consuming to make and display exquisite craftsmanship.

(ENG) Gejia batik clothes: quaint and simple, using double-edge chain stitch, batik and counted thread stitch. Sleeves are adorned with red checkered patterns, making the overall colour more vibrant and eye-catching. The base colour of the batik clothes reveals the unique texture of batik and contrasts beautifully with the white pattern. The batik patterns are exquisite, with neat symmetrical chrysanthemum patterns in rich colours. Gejia is a subgroup of the Miao and the batik and embroideries made by the Gejia are especially neat and intricate. Gejia love to use regularly arranged geometric patterns for their embroidery and batik.

（简）蜡染片以大圆形和边缘的直线作构图框架，再在空白位置绘以精致整齐的图纹。此蜡染片运用了蜡染的制作方法。用蜡液在自织的白布上精心绘上图案，然后在蓝靛缸里浸染几次后捞出，放在锅里用开水煮去蜡质，再用水清洗浮色，即呈现出各种白色图案。漩涡纹是出现较早的中国传统纹样之一，被认为是中国传统纹样审美思想和造型意识的起源。
(ENG) Batik fabric: composition is framed with large circles and straight lines at the edges. Blank space is decorated with neat and intricate patterns. The fabric is made using the batik technique, a process that uses melted beeswax. Creating a batik piece of clothing is time consuming, labour intensive and takes great skill. Firstly, wax is used to draw intricate patterns on self-weaved white cloth. The cloth is then immersed several times into a barrel of indigo blue dye and taken out, boiled to remove excess wax, and washed with water to reveal diverse white patterns. The spiral pattern is one of the earliest traditional Chinese patterns.

（简）蜡画中间绘有鸟龙纹，外框则饰有方形和几何图案。此蜡画运用了蜡染的制作技艺。蜡画，即蜡染的第一步，铜质蜡刀蘸上枫蜡溶液于纯棉白布上绘制图案，少数民族女孩一般从6-7岁便开始学习画蜡，由家中母亲、外婆、奶奶等传授。蜡画图案的鸟龙纹屬於榕江地区蜡染风格，图案线条流畅细腻，灵动可爱，栩栩如生，需要长时间的学习和制作才可有此画蜡功底。
(ENG) Batik drawing: bird dragon pattern drawn in the middle, with squares and geometric patterns decorated on the borders of the drawing. Techniques of batik are used to produce this drawing. Batik drawing is the first step of batik. The copper wax knife is dipped in maple wax solution to draw patterns on white cotton cloth. Taught by the mother, grandmother and grandma, minority girls generally start to learn wax painting from the age of 6-7. The bird dragon pattern on the batik drawing belongs to the batik style in the Rongjiang area. The pattern is smooth, delicate, vibrant and realistic. The excellent skills of batik drawing require a long time to learn and practice.

（简）袖片的彩染集中在中部，呈暗红色，袖口颜色则另外缤纷，以红，蓝，黄相间。此袖片运用了彩染的制作技巧，衣袖部分是蜡染装饰片。彩染，顾名思义彩色蜡染，制作时使用了除靛蓝外的其他植物染料多次密封蜡染色而成。苗族的蜡染技巧高超，变化多样，用色大胆鲜明。
(ENG) Batik sleeves; with coloured batik concentrated at the centre in maroon. The cuffs are decorated in alternating red, blue and yellow. Coloured batik, as its name suggests, is the production of batik in colours. It is made by the repetitive sealing of melted wax and the use of plant-based dyes other than indigo. The Miao are extremely skillful at creating diverse and boldly coloured batik.
