Surrounding the peony are richly detailed small flowers, butterflies, fish, birds and prawns. The focal point is on the peony patterns, which sit gracefully and distinctively among all the subordinate patterns without being overshadowed. Flat stitch is used. The collar, cuffs and hem of the vest are decorated with fringes of red cloth, and embroidered with golden coloured floral sketch patterns.
