A bright green rhombus placed at the centre of the belt makes use of complementary colours and creates a stunning visual contrast against the base red cloth. Couching stitch and patchwork stitch are used. Exquisite craftsmanship has gone into creating the symmetrical distribution of patterns and colours. Baby carrying belts are used by ethnic minorities to carry their children. They are often made using batik, brocade and embroidery techniques. Baby carrying belts are an important part of Guizhou ethnic minority clothing culture.
