This piece shows symmetrical composition with a large circle in the centre of the fabric, adjoined by two semi circles at both ends and straight lines on the top and bottom. Space inbetween the lines is filled with a meticulously stitched dense spiral pattern. Spiral patterns are one of the earliest traditional and ancient Chinese patterns. Gejia is a branch of the Miao, and they are renowned for their neat and intricate batik and embroidery.
