Split line stitch, flat stitch, counched braid stitch and appliqué are used. The embroidery is divided into two parts through the middle of the purse. The upper part is mainly embroidered with split line stitches and appliqué to create water lily, pomegranate and Ruyi patterns. These patterns reflect the strong influence of Han culture on the Tujia people. The lower part has a greater focus of embroidery, with patterns including peonies, birds, butterflies, gourd and coins. The shape of the bird is very similar to the shape of the Miao divine bird. The butterfly morphs into a flower shape and is combined with the gourd.
