The Xiaohua Miao Shawl
Subject
Description
(ENG) Xiaohua Miao shawl: striking red and yellow threads on top of darker coloured threads such as dark green and burgundy. Miao women like to use bright colours, such as red and yellow with white and black accents. Crossing stitch and splicing stitch are used. The patterns are mainly geometrical, and these patterns often appear in Miao and Dong brocade and clothing. The unchanged production mode and lifestyle of the Miao and Dong play an important role in the inheritance and continuation of traditional Chinese cultural symbols.
